MPNFL on the ball early for AFL Victoria Community Championships

MPNFL is gearing up to take on Geelong FNL for the #1 position in the state
Football never sleeps within the ranks of the MPNFL with planning already underway for the 2017 AFL Victoria Community Championships campaign.
It will be the ‘battle of the bay’ with MPNFL taking on Geelong, who defeated the Eastern Football  League in 2016 to claim the number one ranking. It will be a highly anticipated game, brewing with talent from both sides of Port Philip Bay.

After leading the MPNFL to victory over the Northern Football League last May, Coach John Hynes is back on board with his line coaches Gavin Artico, Paul Hopgood, Patty Poore and Andrew Schneider who has joined as the conditioning coach. The initial squad list for the senior football side is being finalised with players and clubs to be contacted prior to Christmas.  
The first training session is to held in the third week of January with date and venue to be confirmed later on.
Whilst Geelong Football Netball League has been nominated to host the 2017 clash, AFL South East alongside AFL Victoria are working to secure the Melbourne Cricket Ground as a curtain raiser game in Round 8 of the AFL, Essendon versus Geelong, which would be a unique opportunity for all involved playing on the haloed turf of the MCG.
There are certainly exciting times ahead, with the MPNFL buoyant of the prospect of possibly knocking Geelong off their perch and claiming the number one title in Victoria.
