Weekend Review – Finals Week 3 2017

Some big games played yesterday at Frankston Park, first off in the under 19’s it was Red Hill victorious over Sorrento by 30 points to advance to the Grand Final against Somerville next weekend. In the reserves, Rosebud was too strong for the Frankston Bombers with a 23 point win. The Bombers lead early in the day but the Bud’s had other ideas with a 7 goal 2nd quarter and took it from there. Rosebud will now take on Sorrento in the Grand Final. In the main game of the afternoon, Frankston and Rosebud did battle again with the result reversed this time, as Frankston got home with an 18 point win. 7 different goal scorers for the Bombers saw them get through the day and into next week against Sorrento for the big dance.







Grand Finals

A Grade: Premiers Crib Point 

Crib Point 43 Def Tyabb 29

In the big game of the afternoon, it was a rematch of last years Grand Final between Cribby and Tyabb. The game started at a fast pace and never really seemed to slow down. Both teams had fluid movement of the ball up and down the court, with Crib Point making the most of their opportunities, and taking out the win and flag for season 2017.

B Grade: Premiers Somerville

Somerville 41 Def Crib Point 21

B Grade saw the two best sides of the year go head to head for the 2017 Premiership. Somerville got out to an early lead and never looked back from there. Crib Point battle hard to real in the Eagles but the form team of the year showed why they deserved to be crown Premiers.

C Grade: Premiers Crib Point

It was an epic battle in C Grade with saw both sides never give in to the other. At the final whistle, it was 32 all, forcing the game to go into overtime with 2x three-minute halves. At the end of that it was Crib Point who emerged on top by 2 goals and were Premiers for the 2017 season.

D Grade: Premiers Rye

Rye 35 Def Frankston 29

The Demons and Bombshells went at it again for the 4th time in season 2017 only for this to be the decider between who is the Premier of 2017. Early on the lead changed several times with both sides showing glimpses on why they were the tops sides for 2017. it wasn’t until in the 4th quarter when Rye stepped it up a notch and ran away with the game. Frankston had a small comeback but it was a little too late as the Demon won by 6 goals.

U17 Grade: Premiers Pearcedale

Pearcedale 33 def Red Hill 27

In what was a strange comp for the under 17’s in 2017, Pearcedale and Red Hill took their places in the 2017 Grand Final. In wet conditions, the girls were able to still stay composed and play a good standard of netball, while die-hard supporters cheered from the sidelines regardless of the weather. Both sides had their chances early on, but in the end, it was Pearcedale who broke away with the lead and the flag for 2017.
