Weekend Review – Round 18 2017

Brought to you by the Mornington Racing Course

Football

Well, it’s final here, Round 18 has been an gone, so let’s review the actions from the last round of the Nepean FNL. Rosebud pulled off the unthinkable, a 4 point win over Sorrento! The Buds had eight different goal kickers on the day and in a see-sawing affair the men in the navy blue came out on top to hand Sorrento their first loss of the year. Dromana came out firing against Rye know they had to beat the Demons by 5 goals more than what Red Hill would if they won against Tyabb. Unfortunately for the Green, Gold, and Black, it was not to be with Rye managing 44 points, wherein the Red Hill versus Tyabb game the Hillmen kept the Yabbies to 2.4.16. Both Dromana and Red Hill kick 21 goals each in their wins but the defensive work of Red Hill sees them secure the 5th spot on the ladder and for the third year in a row, an elimination final against Hastings. The Blues had a good win over a gallant Devon Meadows by 33 points. Frankston decided to turn the tides on Pearcedale with a 68 point victory over Pearcedale, Sam Fox and Zach Longham both had four majors each for the Bombers. In the last game of the year, Crib Point pulled off a stunning upset over Somerville by 43 points. The young Magpie brigade was certainly on show, and wanted to display to the competition what might be installed for them when they play Crib Point.

Finals start next week and the first week will look like this:

Rosebud – 2nd v Frankston Bombers – 3rd: Qualifying Final @ Frankston Park Sat Aug 26th (winner to take on Sorrento in the 2nd Semi-Final, loser to face the winner of the Elimination Final).
