Weekend Review – Round 8 2017

Round 8 action saw a mixed bag of results before the bye over the long weekend. Frankston came back from 20 points down at three quarter-time to defeat a gallant Devon Meadows side by 13 points, Rosebud tuned up its game plan against Tyabb with a 90 point win over the Yabbies, Pearcedale ran with the reigning premiers up until half time before Hastings went up another gear to run out 56 point winners. Rye made it two wins in two weeks taking the 4 points at home against Crib Point by 22 points, Red Hill will need to go back to the board and figure how to defeat Sorrento as the Hillmen couldn’t match with the Sharks going down by 40 points, and in the last game Dromana has pulled off a massive upset over Somerville at Somerville, leading at every break and finally coming away with a 16 point win.

Netball

Round 8 in the Nepean FNL for netball saw Red Hill defeat Sorrento by 79 goals, Frankston jumped back on the winner’s list with an 11¬†goal win over Devon Meadows, Rosebud couldn’t match it with Tyabb, the Yabbies running away with a 34 goal win, Crib Point were too strong for Rye winning by 52 goals and in the last game Somerville easily won over Dromana by 41 goals.
