Football

Queen’s Birthday Weekend see two games being played over the weekend. Saturday is a battle between Rye and Sorrento while on Sunday sees Dromana host Red Hill.

Saturday: In the seniors the last time these two sides met it was all one way traffic and it didn’t change in this game either with the Sorrento inflicting a 113 point loss on their neighbouring club Rye. Dawes kicked 10 goals in the Sharks onslaught and was supported by Tapscott who chimed in with 4 of his own. Jennings was the Demons only dual goal kicker for the day with 2 majors.

The Reserves was a similar story with Sorrento controlling the game from the outset. Rye just couldn’t keep up with the Sharks as they went down by 81 points. It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Rye yesterday as their under 19’s had a fantastic 27 point win over Sorrento. Neither side could kick a goal in the first quarter before the Dees kicked 2 majors in the second, and limited Sorrento not kicking a goal until the last quarter.
